Coimbatore: the awareness program for public on” world
breast cancer awareness month” was held on Thursday at Sri Ramakrishna
hospital, Coimbatore. This program was conducted by Sri Ramakrishna Institute of
oncology and Research (SRIOR) and Sri.D.Lakshiminarayanan, join managing
trustee, inaugurated the toll free number for get possible information A to Z
on breast cancer. The toll free number is: 1800 2700 703. When this number is
dialed, an automatic voice gives all the possible information on breast cancer
in English, Tamil.
“Every year the event strategy or may be novel and an “a first
time in south India project. But the goal remains the same “participate,
interact and benefit out projects-and join hands with us to conquer cancer-“
one day all of us can proudly ay we have defeated deadly demon called cancer”-said
by Dr.P.Guhan, director and chief oncologist of SRIOR. SRIOR has announced free
treatment to all women from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM from 1st October to October
31st. and on October 31st the oncology consultants (medical,
surgical and radiation oncology consultants) of SRIOR will interact with the
common public at velumaniamaml kalyana mandapam at Sri Ramakrishna Kalyana
Mandapam premises. With the help of NSS students of Bharathiar University SRIOR
will distribute 5lakh educational pamphlets on breast cancer in 6 districts in
and around Coimbatore.
“Project DEEPAM “of
SRIOR created a record in the medical history of India and world. It is
conducting “every day free mass screening camps” for breast cancer in all these
6 districts for the past 10 years [2005-2015] and is still ongoing .Their
screening result says that 29 out of every 1 lakh women has been detected to
have breast cancer. Hence the crusade continues to conquer breast cancer, which
is easily cured fully, if detected. DEEPAM has also conducted more then 1200 awareness
campaigns in various places in these 12 years. All these “mark” in the history
events are staged in the interest of the public every year in the month of October
– The World Breast Cancer awareness month for the past 12 years.
